YAY SHANNON GILMER! Shannon Gilmer, an Exceptional Education resource teacher at Dumbarton Elementary School, is today's "Yay of the Day" honoree! Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently at Dumbarton.

"Over the summer, Shannon collected items and donations to turn her classroom into a sensory room for her students. She has transformed it into a relaxing and calming area for our Exceptional Education students to learn and decompress. Already, we have seen the benefits of her hard work as our students are excited to be in the space, while they are learning the skills to self-regulate. I was a collab classroom teacher before moving to my current role and she works with many of my former students. I have seen how much those students have thrived under her care. Shannon is a selfless and dedicated coworker, who makes all of our jobs easier by caring for our Ex Ed students. Shannon cares so deeply about her students' success and well-being."
